Event Navigation

A dream comes true; offering a 60 minute class at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC in honour of the Yoga: The Art of Transformation exhibition, and to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Light.
This class will focus on alignment and fluidity, both in yoga and in most daily offerings. Through the practice of asana, pranayama and seated meditation, find healing space in your structure, quiet in your nervous system, and listening in your heart. Free yoga classes will be offered throughout the day.
Pre-register for classes here.
Yoga mats will be provided; you’re encouraged to leave your mat at home.
Mark the opening of Yoga: The Art of Transformation and Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, with a full day of public activities. Visitors can discover exhibition highlights through spotlight tours, play games from across Asia, attempt intricate rangoli (rice powder) drawings, and make their own yoga-inspired art in hands-on workshops. Indian musician K. Sridhar will demonstrate musical meditation, and storyteller Surabhi Shah will share tales of Indian deities. The day concludes with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and an evening concert of classical Indian music.
