Right Speech: How to Talk About Anything and Still Stay Connected to Yourself and Others

Part of what makes us human is our ability to communicate verbally.
But what contributes to our happiness, and to satisfying relationships, is our ability to communicate well.

It's not a certain situation making us unhappy; it's what we bring to that situation. Our reticence to talk about difficult situations can be fueled by the awkwardness we sometimes feel when we consider addressing certain topics.

Perhaps we believe bringing it up might make things worse, which stops us from having clear, compassionate communications. Our strategy then becomes avoidance; we simply avoid what we expect to be difficult in order to keep ourselves safe.

Learn about telling the truth in a way that doesn't blame or divide. This course will serve you in speaking more from wisdom and less from pain around difficult issues.

Dear teacher Judith Hanson Lasater has a world of experience in helping us to bring about this shift in consciousness via Nonviolent Communication, and you're cordially invited to join her; Elena Brower will facilitate this virtual course.

Nonviolent communication is an empathy-based process developed by Marshal Rosenberg, Ph.D., taught globally. Judith was fortunate to study with him and has been learning and teaching NVC for 25 years.

How can we express ourselves in a way that brings us closer to others - especially when we don’t agree?

Begin with the basic concepts of NVC with Judith Hanson Lasater, one of the key voices for this practice. Over the course of 8 sessions, you'll have the opportunity to share real conversations and scenarios from your experience in order to practice new ways of communicating.

If you serve or teach others, we'll also touch upon how to use language in our work and our home contexts. More importantly, we’ll practice how to hear the needs of others, and how to express our own needs in all our interactions by using skillfulness and radical presence.
